If you spy little figures on the Ponte da Arrábida, they will be on a guided ascent with the Porto Bridge Climb (www.portobridgeclimb.com). Anyone over 12 with a head for heights can join a (harnessed) climb up 262 steps to the top of the arch for stunning views – with a comforting shot of port wine at the top. Just beyond the bridge the river meets the ocean and you can often spot the white horses of the Atlantic in the far distance.
